CAPTAIN'S CHARITY

SCORE CARDS

John Taylor, the man with the unenviable task of processing our score cards, finds it amazing that there can be so many WRONG ways to fill out our simple card. The work involved is enormous and compounded by the fact that for any given competition 30-35% of score cards are completed incorrectly. Indicated below are the pointers to help you to help John. Please take note.
  1. Enter correct date. Separate competitions on Saturdays and Sundays, please make clear.
  2. Enter your entry number from competition book - the most important point for identification and validation of your card.
  3. Enter the competition name - again there may be more than one in a weekend.
  4. Enter your name and correct initials. The computer identifies you by your initials and surname, so please, no nicknames or bogus initials. Any alterations to the score card must be initialed by the marker.
  5. Enter the correct score for the competition, be it medal, stableford, bogey etc.
  6. Tick the box to indicate which tees you played from.
Centenarian Score Card
In addition, please keep all sidebets and comments off your score card. It is of no interest to John Taylor that Bill and Ernie won tea and toast or that the round took four hours due to an apparent peace rally on the 7th tee!

LORDS' TAVERNERS MINI-BUS

The last couple of weeks have seen the totaliser going up in leaps and bounds. We have now reached an amazing £1,500 thanks to the many people who have contributed to raffles and bought our brochures. Special mention must go to Mollie Henning and Helen Keefe who raised over £300 on Am-Am day with their bottle raffle; the Ladies' section who again raised over £300 with their bronze and mixed opens; Tim Wood for £150 from his draw for a set of three metal-woods won by Dave Goodlake; and to the house and bar committee for their ever-popular meat draw. £6,500 is certainly an ambitious target, but we are an ambitious Club looking to put ourselves on the map and contribute to a very worthy cause. We've seen recently how much can be done if we all do something. Any fundraising ideas would be welcome, addressed to the house and bar committee via The Secretary. Let's give Corhampton Golf Club yet another reason to be proud in its centenary year!

You can do your bit for the Captain's Charity by selling our centenary brochures to your friends, guests and family. Copies are available from behind the bar or from Peter Taylor's office at £2.00 each, with a11 proceeds going to the fund.

The Niche Group

The main sponsor for the centenary celebrations is the Niche Group Ltd, who are based in Portchester. The Group, which consists of electronics related companies, Accorde Distribution Ltd, Accorde USA Inc, QTM Ltd, TAPS Ltd, Custom Keyboards Ltd and Niche Communications Ltd, has been established for five years and Founder and Managing Director Harvey. lan Mcinnes recognises a similarity between the industry £4,500 and the sport. "As the electronics industry has grown and developed over recent years so has the interest in golf as a major leisure pursuit and we are pleased to support such a well established and historic club as Corhampton in their centenary year - who knows it may well be that future members of Corhampton will one day be part of the centenary celebrations for Niche!"
