| CORHAMPTON GOLF CLUB Location: central between Winchester, Petersfield, Bishops Waltham, Portsmouth and Southampton. Within reasonably easy reach of all these centres, even by a combination of 'bus and rail (the Club secretary will be delighted to provide route suggestions from almost anywhere). The course is situated high up on the Corhampton Down, a rolling plateau 300 feet above sea level. There is always a green, lush look about this course which is is so well drained that there is almost certain to be play there when neighbouring courses are closed due to wet winter conditions. At the present time, the course is only nine holes. Another nine holes were laid in 1974 but are unlikely to be ready for play until late 1975. The course is on downland and the present 18 hole round (twice round the nine) includes two long holes of 481 and 487 yards. It was said by Robert H. K. Browning who compiled a previous "Guide To Golf In Hampshire" to be "first class tournament standard." To-day there is no valid reason to disagree with this comment. S.S.S. 68. Par 72. 5,950 yards.
